Starting in February; Baseball the Martial Arts Way. Spirit Plus Christian Baseball will begin with pre-season instruction showing the parallel between the body machanics involved in baseball and the martial arts. We will help the individual athlete become the best that they can be spiritually, mentally, and physically. I origionally started martial arts in order to improve my baseball game and immediately improved from being a walk-on player to a scholarship player.
Spirit Plus Christian Martial Arts is about using the marital arts as a means to strengthen the saved and to reach the lost. Our dove fist emblem represents the Holy Spirit guiding us into action. The martial arts is not for everyone, therefore, we encourage everyone to put God first in whatever they like to do.
The Holy Spirit was present throughout biblical history. In most bliblical narratives the Holy Spirit is unnamed, this person of the Godhead is self-effacing and does not call attention to himself but brings glory to God the Father or to Christ the Son. Unlike other Bible characters whose earthly lives begin and end, the Holy Spirit is eternal.
We want to invite you to join us in our Spirit Plus Christian Martial Arts group on facebook. We are trying to use facebook as a way to fellowship and build relationships while we strenghten each other in our spiritual lives. We also want to encourage you to get involved by using the wall to share quotes, personal feelings, praises, and prayer requests while we try to deal with issues that we have to deal with on a daily basis.
Prayer and the Bible are our 2 most powerful weapons
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God.
Classes are held at the Spirit Plus Christian Life Center
Classes are on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 3:30-4:30;4:30-5:30;5:30-6:30
Christian Martial Arts Are The Total Package
Christian Martial Arts are the total package for developing flexibility, strength, self-discipline, self-confidence, concentration, and most importantly "Spiritual Growth". Salvation does not mean that we are instantly perfect. It means that we are starting our growth process. We never stay the same, we will grow stronger or weaker day by day. The same concept of growth, as shown in our belt process is also applied to our spiritual growth process as well. As an evavgelistic tool, the martial arts are just the thing to draw a crowd. In the Bible, time and time again, the disciples would do something to draw the crowds' attention and then share the gospel. The warrior spirit coupled with prayer and bible study is the perfect combination for raising soldiers for Christ. Martial Arts are more than just fighting. The concern that martial arts teach violent behavior is a lie straight from Hell, Satan wants the world to see the church as weak. In a Christian setting, when taught with the word of God, the martial arts teach discipline and godliness. There is a difference in turning the other cheek and self-defense. In reality, we teach students that with the proper phonics, semantics, and body language that we may be able to avoid a fight. The first lesson of self-defense is to avoid confrontation altogether. Without that as a foundation, martial artists become uncivilized thugs. There is a time to stand. An outstanding example of the "warrior spirit" is found in the Bible in 2 Samuel 23:8-12 in the list of David's mighty men. The practice of martial arts instills the self-confidence needed to take a stand in the midst of battle. In today's world, many Christians try to staddle the fense and avoid difficult decisions. The Christian Warrior who is taught to have confidence in God, through the Christian Martial Arts, will be more likely to take a stand when the non-warriors are long gone.
