Spirit Plus Christian Baseball (The Martial Arts Way).

I origionally started training in the martial arts as a means to improve my baseball game, it worked. I immediately improved to a well above average player because of the training methods that I learned. Spirit Plus players will improve their speed, quickness, strength, flexibility, eye-hand coordination, and focus. They will also gain confidence which will make their time on the field more enjoyable.

You can't fix the outside until you fix the inside - Billy Blanks

The 2nd most importent part of any self-improvment program (spiritual, mental, or physical), is to recognize where you are at and to establish where you want to be. You have to establish goals. What do you want to achieve? As a part of a team, what do you want your role to be in the success of the team? Baseball is unique as a sport because along with being a part of a team there is more emphasis in being an individual than other sports because of the individual aspects of the game. As a hitter or fielder you have to get the job done on your own. There are no blockers and there won't be anyone to set a screen for you. It's all you when you are one on one either facing a pitcher or trying to strike out the batter. It's all up to you when you have to field the ball and then make a strong and accurate throw.

Baseball players also need to develop the best combination of speed and strength in order to generate power. While strength training is critical we have to maintain flexibility in order to maintain speed and quickness. Speed + Strength = Power. Strength training for our youth players is based on a low weight-high rep program because of growth plates.

The most importent part of Spirit Plus Baseball is spiritual. If we will always put God 1st and remember it's just a game then we will actually be more successful and have more FUN. Baseball is a game! We need to learn to be competitive and to always strive to be our best, but we also need to be confident (never arrogant) remaining humble in order to always be coachable. We need to also learn that with our success we are to help others around us to be their best.
